Cross-Entropy Games and Frost Training
A method that uses reward gradients in embedding space to accelerate GRPO training on Cross-Entropy Games.
I teach language models to improve themselves — with reinforcement learning, and with games.

‘Who are you?’
said the Caterpillar.
An applied mathematician, mostly. I work on reinforcement learning for self-improving language models.
Originally from Belgium, I moved to Switzerland to study mathematics at EPFL and applied mathematics at ETH Zürich, with a year at KTH in Stockholm in between.
Today I am a founding engineer and ML researcher at Xent Labs, where we develop Xent Games: an open-ended space of games for language models that produces measurable signals on reasoning, anticipation and cooperation.
Outside of research, I build things that ship — among them the website and app of Festival Balélec, Europe’s largest student festival.

A principled framework for relevant skill discovery in language models via Cross-Entropy Games: a curriculum of tasks that develops general capabilities.

We build Xent Games — an open-ended space of games that language models play to get better, and that tell us how well they reason, anticipate and cooperate. Croquet with flamingos, more or less.
